Chairman of GOEIC on a visit to the Chamber of Engineering Industries of the Federation of Industries to discuss methods of joint cooperation between them

The Engineering Industries Chamber of the Federation of Industries held an extensive meeting with Eng. Essam Al-Naggar to discuss the obstacles faced by the manufacturers on the basis of the problem of the release of the production supplies. Eng. Essam Al-Naggar reported that, according to the directives of the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ahmed Samir quickly released customs requirements and quickly facilitated transport and storage procedures.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Muhandis, Chairman of the Engineering Industries Chamber of the Federation of Industries, said that the General Organization for Export and Import Control currently relies on an open door policy and spares no effort to support industry and manufacturers either in facilitating the import of raw materials needed for industry or in supporting exports to realize the dream of 100 billion dollars’ exports.

Eng. Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, explained that the production requirements of the industry are currently being examined directly by GOEIC. Al-Naggar added that GOEIC has a different laboratory 300 and 1300 tests approved by the international accreditation authorities and we aim to reach a certified testing 2000 soon.

Al-Muhandis the head of the Engineering Industries Chamber's Electrical Tools Division of the Chamber of Engineering Industries suggested the importance of having a single entity in the State specializing in testing and calibration laboratories or cooperating between the private sector and the Government in establishing and conducting tests.

Testing means calibration and conformity. This requires two laboratories. We therefore want to implement a quality plant system based on the idea of cooperation between the government and private sectors as well as at the level of the government sectors themselves.

The member of the Division of Home Appliances requested the need to provide a list of certificates granted by the GOEIC for Engineering Industries and certificates to be issued in the coming period in order to be dealt with. The chairman of GOEIC confirmed that he will send this list to the Chamber of Engineering Industries for circulation to members.

The Executive Director of the Export Council for Engineering Industries noted that the Council and the Chamber of Engineering Industries serve as one entity stressing that a symposium was agreed with the General  Organization for Export and Import Control to familiarize itself with the laboratories and needs of engineering industries, especially since GOEIC has unaware possibilities and we will hold the symposium on November 16 inviting members of engineering industries to attend and participate in the symposium.

The representative of one of the major Saj production companies in Egypt asked that there were three sources of export and import data, such as GOEIC, The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics and the Customs Authority. We note a difference in numbers and data in each entity and confirm that meetings have recently been held to standardize the unit of measurement in different entities, He added that the data announced by The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics are the proceeds of data sent to him by Customs, GOEIC and the Central Bank.

The Chief of the Division of Metal Formation of the Chamber of Engineering Industries noted that there are obstacles in the renewal of importers' certificates and import cards, stressing the need to develop data and renewal of certificates and import cards through the website of GOEIC so that the pace of the extraction and renewal of import cards is accelerated.

Eng. Essam al-Naggar followed that we currently have only 30 thousand importers after 63 thousand importers and a deadline is given to renew the import card about six months and three months before the end of the certificate and three months by fine after the expiration of the certificate.

With regard to the proposal to establish a website to extract certificates and import cards electronically, GOEIC is currently working on it. During November 2023, the data will be placed on an electronic platform and will be activated once and for all. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Mohammed Al-Muhandis, Chairman of the Chamber of Engineering Industries and members of the Chamber of Engineering Thanks to Eng. Essam Al-Naggar and his entourage, Eng. Essam Al-Naggar reiterated his continued support to the Chamber of Engineering Industries and Export Councils and his Excellency thanked the President of the Chamber and the members.
