approval, renewal, and addition of new tests to the scope of accreditation for industrial product laboratories at Damietta branch, in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
As a part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade policy to develop infrastructure system of the quality, enhance the efficiency of inspection and testing services, and boost competitiveness of Egyptian products and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, the industrial goods quality testing laboratories at the Damietta branch of the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) have achieved a new breakthrough in laboratory accreditation in accordance with the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
The visit conducted by Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) team resulted in accreditation of some tests for the first time, renewal of existing accreditations, and addition of new tests to the scope of accreditation in such way that reflects GOEIC’s continuous development of technical and laboratory capabilities and enhances the reliability and accuracy of test results issued by its laboratories.
Engineer Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, affirmed that developing the laboratory system and enhancing its technical capabilities are one of the key pillars of the Organization's strategy to strengthen the control and conformity assessment mechanisms, support the national industry, and ensure the quality of products circulating in the market.
He explained that obtaining new accreditations, renewing existing ones, and expanding their scope in accordance with international standards helps boost confidence in inspection and testing results. It also supports the ability of Egyptian products to meet quality requirements and compete in both local and international markets, in alignment with the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The visit resulted in the glass laboratory obtaining accreditation for the first time for flat glass thickness testing, alongside the renewal of accreditation for laboratories specializing in furniture and wood, cement, kaolin, 20-ton tensile testing, pressure and water conservation, electrical safety, and household electrical appliances.
The scope of accreditation for the pressure and water consumption efficiency laboratory has also been extended to include leak-tightness testing at 16 bar and pressure resistance testing at 25 bar for water mixers.
This achievement is a result of GOEIC’s constant efforts to modernize its technical and laboratory infrastructure, develop the capabilities of its workforce, and enhance compliance with international standards. These measures boost the efficiency of the inspection and control system while supporting the quality of Egyptian industry and facilitating the access of its products to different markets.
