GOEIC's Inspection Unit:
General Organization for Export and Import Control is a service entity which main and principal aim is facilitating trade movement, developing and encouraging exports. Products Inspection Unit was established at the General Organization for Export and Import Control after being approved by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) on 28/2/2024 until 22/01/2028, in accordance with requirements of the International Standards ISO/IEC 17020:2012, by virtue of a decision of the Chairman of the Board of Directors No. (1714)/2023. The unit provides inspection services to governments, manufacturers, exporters, importers and others with the aim of conformity verification before exporting goods and products to various countries according to the standard specifications of the importing country to help global trading parties mitigate and alleviate risks associated with goods agreements.
Scope of accreditation includes inspection of the following products:
- Paper and paper products (including face tissues, toilet and kitchen paper towels, and women's sanitary pads) according to Egyptian and International Standards.
- Textiles and ready-made garments (including textiles, ready-made garments and carpets) according to Egyptian and International Standards.
- Shoes (including footwear, sports sneakers, safety shoes and military boots according to Egyptian and International Standards.
- Leather products (such as bags, wallets and leather belts) according to Egyptian and International Standards
- Batteries (including lead acid batteries and dry batteries according to Egyptian and International Standards.
- Cookware and tableware (including aluminum cookware, stainless steel cookware, enamel cookware, pressure cookers and tableware) according to Egyptian and International Standards.
unit inspection services include the following operations:
First: Pre-shipment inspection:
- The unit issues inspection certificates for Egyptian products exported from Arab Republic of Egypt to foreign countries. It issues as well inspection certificates for leather shoes and bags, clothing, ready-made garments, upholsteries, carpets and floor coverings exported to Arab Republic of Egypt, in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No.961. Furthermore, issuing pre-shipment inspection certificates for industrial projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and industrial projects in free zones in various governorates.
Second: Inspection based on request of Parties to International Trade (purchasers/sellers/manufacturers):
- Products Inspection Unit provides inspection services according to contractual requirements to make sure that exported products comply with the contractual agreements, as products are inspected in terms of quantity, quality and other characteristics to mitigate the risks of non-fulfillment of the contractual agreements.
Third: Physical inspection of the contracting samples:
- Product Inspection Unit provides a physical inspection service for contracting samples according to National and International Standards.
