The GOEIC and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed a $11 million Agreement to enhance trade facilitation in Egypt, entitled "Establishing a Digital Platform for Risk-Based Inspection and Traceability to Facilitate Trade in Egypt." The project aims to streamline the procedures of the imported goods inspection in Egypt and bolster Egypt's competitiveness in the Global Trade.

Eng. Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, pays a visit to Port Said and holds an expanded meeting with Major General/Moheb Habashi, Governor of Port Said, and a number of the leaders working at the port. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, participates with the Central Department for Food and Chemical Laboratories in the specialized training course titled "Processes Methodology in implementation of the Accredited Quality Management System" in accordance with the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025. The course aims to enhance the staff capabilities, improve the efficiency of laboratories performance, and to emphasize the laboratories' commitment to apply the highest standards of quality and International Accreditation.
Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) has approved extending the scope of accreditation for the Product Inspection Unit in accordance with the requirements of the International Standard ISO/IEC 17020:2012 by adding the following items: Electrical household appliances (washing machines, heaters, fans, irons - paper products (baby diapers and jumbo rolls of tissues) - textiles (wetsuits) - cookware (glass tableware)
