As a part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s policy aimed at developing Egyptian exports, enhancing the competitiveness of national products, and expanding their access to global markets, and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Eng. Essam El Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, participated in the Egyptian-Italian Business Forum, that was held in Cairo in conjunction with the meetings of the Egyptian-Italian Joint Higher Committee.
The Chairman of the GOEIC participated in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, along with a select group of representatives of the business community, companies and economic and investment institutions in both countries.
The GOEIC’s participation in the forum reflects its pivotal role in implementing the directions of the State and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade towards facilitating trade, supporting exporters, developing the regulatory services system, and enhancing communication with the business community and international partners, which contributes to increasing trade exchange rates between Egypt and Italy.
The forum discussed prospects for developing economic and trade relations between the two countries, increasing Italian investments in the Egyptian market, encouraging the establishment of new partnerships between Egyptian and Italian companies, and taking advantage of the opportunities available in sectors of common interest.
Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty stressed that convention of the forum reflects the growing momentum in Egyptian-Italian relations, noting that Italy is Egypt’s first trading partner among the European Union countries and the fourth largest globally.
The Foreign Minister also expressed Egypt’s aspiration to attract more Italian investments, and to benefit from its strategic location, promising market, and status as a logistical hub and gateway to Arab and African markets.
The General Organization for Export and Import Control continues its efforts to support the business community and facilitate foreign trade procedures, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and supporting their integration into regional and international markets.
