As part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade policy to support competitiveness of Egyptian economy, enhance the transition to a green economy, and prepare the business community to meet environmental requirements and international standards and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, the GOEIC has signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Federation for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Finance (MSMEF).
The protocol was signed by Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, and Dr. Hala Fawzy Abul Saad, Chairman of the Egyptian Federation for Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprise Finance.
The protocol aims to foster joint cooperation in areas such as environmental sustainability, building capacities, training and qualification, reporting sustainability, and calculation of carbon footprint, in accordance with the international standards and specifications, thereby enhancing the readiness of institutions and projects to meet the growing demands of global markets and supply chains.
By virtue of this protocol, the GOEIC provides Union members with services of reporting sustainability and carbon footprint calculation, as well as services of verification, validation, and environmental sustainability reporting. It also implements specialized capacity-building programs and enhance technical and institutional capabilities, along with offering a discount up to 20% on GOEIC’s accredited training and qualification services.
The two sides also agreed to form a joint executive committee undertakes monitoring the implementation of the protocol’s items, preparing work programs, and measuring progress rates, so as to ensure achieving aspired objectives of cooperation.
Engineer Essam El-Naggar confirmed that signing the protocol reflects the GOEIC’s commitment to strengthening the institutional partnerships that support sustainable development, and to leveraging its technical capabilities, internationally accredited laboratories, and specialized units to assist and prepare the business community to meet the international requirements and standards.
He demonstrated that this cooperation helps make technical and advisory services available to a broader range of medium, small, and micro-enterprises. It assists them in measuring their environmental performance, developing sustainability practices, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting green transition pathways, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and their ability to access international markets.
For her part, Dr. Hala Fawzy Abul Saad emphasized that the protocol represents a significant step toward enhancing the readiness of the Federation’s member institutions and companies to keep pace with rapid developments in environmental sustainability, noting that adherence to environmental standards has become a fundamental factor in accessing markets and integrating into global supply chains and international trade.
She added that cooperation with the GOEIC provides projects with the knowledge and technical tools necessary to practically implement sustainability requirements, thereby supporting their growth and enhancing their operational efficiency.
This protocol comes within the framework of supporting the State’s efforts to achieve the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030, advancing sustainable development, enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian enterprises, and equipping them to efficiently meet environmental and technical requirements in both local and international markets.
