GOEIC holds an awareness seminar on "all laws and decisions regulating the examination and testing of tobacco products and its alternatives"

The General Organization for Export and Import Control holds an awareness seminar on "all laws and decisions regulating the examination and testing of tobacco products and its substitutes, including alternatives to traditional cigarettes such as heated tobacco and electronic cigarettes"

 

Eng. Essam El-Naggar - Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control: GOEIC plays a pivotal and effective role in supporting the state's efforts to serve Egyptian trade and industry by strengthening the infrastructure system for product quality and protecting the Egyptian consumer.

 

Within the framework of the Ministry of Trade and Industry's keenness to improve the system of services provided to the exporters and importers community through commitment to implementing the latest systems and rules in place, in a way that contributes to facilitating the movement of trade between Egypt and the countries of the world.

 

The General Organization for Export and Import Control, headed by Eng. Essam El-Naggar, holds a seminar in cooperation with the Tobacco and Tobacco Division of the Chamber of Industries, headed by Mr. Ibrahim Imbaby, and in the presence of representatives of companies:

 

  • Al Sharqah for smoke
  • Philip Morris
  • Palm Smoke Company JTI
  • Mansour International Company
  • ANDS Corporation
  • United Company

 

The members of the E-Liquid Registration Committee of the Standards and Quality Authority were also present. The audience also included representatives from:

 

  • Alexandria smoke customs
  • Central laboratories of the Ministry of Health
  • Central Administration for Anti-Customs Evasion
  • The Egyptian General Organization for Standardization and Quality
  • Industrial Control Authority

 

The seminar aims to identify the all laws and decisions regulating the examination and testing of tobacco products and its alternatives, including alternatives to traditional cigarettes such as (heated tobacco, electronic cigarettes).

 

Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, stated that GOEIC plays a pivotal and effective role in supporting the state’s efforts to serve Egyptian trade and industry by strengthening the infrastructure system for product quality and protecting the Egyptian consumer as it is a conformity assessment body and granting certificates of conformity for industrial and non-food and food in cross-border trade movement, as well as combating internal commercial fraud, as it is unique in having an integrated system, unparalleled, of advanced examination and testing laboratories spread geographically throughout the Republic and inside Egyptian ports, as well as international accreditation and recognition systems in all areas of conformity assessment procedures. (ISO:17065, ISO:17020, ISO:17025 & PT Unit).

 

His Excellency also explained that GOEIC is one of the leading government agencies in the country that has an integrated international laboratories and accreditation system in all areas of international conformity assessment systems, through its international accreditation as an awarding body for conformity certificates for industrial products in accordance with the ISO:17065 system, and its international accreditation in the competitiveness of laboratories and the conduct of laboratory tests and calibration In accordance with ISO:17025 for nearly 2000 test fields in 300 advanced laboratories in the GOEIC branches spread throughout the Republic, as well as its international accreditation as an internationally accredited examination and inspection body in accordance with the ISO :17020 system, as well as the quality management system in accordance with the ISO:9001 system.

 

Emphasizing his sovereignty on GOEIC role in protecting against internal commercial and industrial fraud by matching the products offered in the local markets to the standard specifications through the commitments of its merged branches to it last year after activating the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 3290 of 2021 to include the Chemistry Department under the umbrella of the General Organization for Export Control and imports.

 

GOEIC also established a unit for issuing conformity certificates for products, which is an internationally accredited and registered unit in accordance with the ISO:17065 systems. It works to increase the competitiveness of Egyptian industry products for export to global markets. 

 

The latest tobacco and cigarettes factory was also reviewed, and His Excellency explained that the laboratory examination period takes a maximum of 48 hours inside the laboratory.

 

The General Organization for Exports and Imports Control has been registered among the global conformity assessment bodies accepted by the Saudi “Saber” program, with the approval of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality.
