Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOIEC, met with newly appointed Customs Authority employees during a lecture he delivered at the Military Academy. This meeting was part of the state's efforts to enhance the efficiency of human resources working within the foreign trade system. This meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Nasr, Head of the Central Department for Chairman's Office Affairs, Ahmed Amin, Head of the Central Department for Commercial Registrations, and Dr. Mai El-Gabry from Agreements Department at the Central Department for Exports and Origin.
The meeting addressed the pivotal role played by the GOEIC in regulating the quality of circulated goods, protecting the local market, and supporting the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, in addition to reviewing the role of the Customs Authority in facilitating trade, collecting the State's revenues, and combating smuggling.
During the lecture, El Naggar stressed the importance of integration between the parties concerned with the Foreign Trade System, referring that the integrated customs system represents a fundamental pillar for achieving discipline, accelerating customs release, and reducing the time and cost of trade, reflecting positively on the investment climate.
He explained that developing the institutional performance and building conscious and trained cadres directly contributes to protecting the national economy, enhancing the state resources, and achieving a balance between the requirements of national security and the requirements of facilitating trade, reflects upon interest of the nation and the citizen likewise.
President of the GOEIC stressed that it is very important for the new employees to adhere to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, and to work as a team, in line with the state’s directions towards digital transformation and modernization of the customs system in accordance with international standards.
He concluded the meeting emphasizing that investment in humans remains the cornerstone of the success of any economic reform system, and that the current stage requires personnel capable of dealing with rapidly-evolving challenges facing the global economy.
