The Prime Minister follows up on measures of preventing smuggling of goods and commodities at various ports.

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly followed up on measures of preventing smuggling of goods and commodities at various ports at the level of the Republic, in a meeting he held today, in the presence of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, Mr. Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, Engineer Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, and Major General Moheb Habashi, Governor of Port Said, Mr. Sherif El-Kilany, Deputy Minister of Finance for Tax Policies, and a number of officials.

The Prime Minister confirmed that this meeting comes as a result of the efforts made by state agencies to take and implement measures aimed at preventing smuggling of goods and commodities at various ports, and the close monitoring of Egyptian imports to ensure their conformity to the specifications and standards.

The Counselor Mohamed El-Homosani, official spokesman for the Cabinet, stated that the meeting reviewed a number of measures necessary to achieve the objectives in this file, mostly important the regulations for tightening control over ports of all types, to prevent attempts of smuggling goods and commodities, which harms Egyptian industry and wastes the state's resources, in addition to controls to confront fraud in goods and commodities by subjecting the imports to control and customs inspection to prevent the entry of goods that do not conform to specifications into the country, in an effort to confront these phenomena and avoid their negative effects on national industry, within the framework of the state’s efforts to support industry and the availability of various products of high quality.
