Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, received Engineer Sherif El-Sayyad, Chairman of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, and Engineer Mai Helmy, Executive Director of the Council, accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior exporting companies that are members of the Council, on a visit to the GOEIC's Central Industrial Laboratories Complex, Sokhna Port.
This comes within the framework of the pivotal role played by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade in supporting the National Economy and increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in all export sectors, and in accordance with the directives of Engineer Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, regarding the necessity of enhancing cooperation with export councils and the private sector.
At the beginning of the field tour at the complex, El Naggar welcomed the Chairman of the Council and his accompanying delegation, and began reviewing the specialized industrial laboratories, which are among the largest and most modern specialized testing laboratories in the Middle East, serving the sectors of car spare parts, electrical household appliances, lighting units and lamps, and others.
The Central Laboratories Complex includes (29) advanced industrial laboratories, including the Electrical Safety Laboratory, Tire Laboratory, Assistants and Lifting Jacks Laboratory, Performance and Safety Laboratory for Circuit Breakers (electrical switches, plugs and sockets), Lamps Testing Laboratory (luminous flux, safety and torque), Biological Testing Laboratory for Lighting Units, Acid Battery and Electric Car Battery Laboratory, Fire Extinguisher Laboratory, the Footwear and Leather Testing Laboratories, the Electric Motor Testing Laboratories, and the Energy Efficiency Testing Laboratories for Electrical Appliances. The complex also includes three specialized chemical laboratories to conduct chemical and security tests for non-food industrial goods.
These laboratories were designed according to the highest international standards and have obtained international accreditation ISO/IEC 17025:2017 in many areas. These laboratories are also able to issue Certificates of Conformity according to SABER system for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Certificates of Conformity for Republic of Tunisia, and for washing machines exported to Jordan, in light of the mutual recognition mechanism.
At the end of the tour, Engineer Sherif El-Sayyad, Chairman of Engineering Export Council, thanked Engineer Essam El-Naggar for giving the council and its members the opportunity to see the GOEIC's latest laboratories, that support and accelerate export procedures and contribute to increasing, developing and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian engineering exports and opening up new markets for them.
