Engineer Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, participated in the seminar entitled “Green Transformation in the Industrial Sector: The Road towards a Sustainable and Competitive Economy”, that was organized by the Green Economy Committee of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), with the participation of a number of officials, experts and representatives of concerned authorities.
The participation of the GOEIC's President came within the framework of the policy of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, and supporting the industrial sector in adapting to the transformations taking place in international trade and the new requirements related to reducing emissions and sustainability.
During the seminar, Engineer Essam El Naggar reviewed the GOEIC's role in supporting low-carbon industrial transformation, and the technical capabilities and services it provides related to inspection, testing and conformity, that contribute to supporting industrial establishments and raising their ability to meet the technical and environmental requirements of foreign markets.
The discussions emphasized the importance of integrating the national entities roles in supporting Egyptian industry during the stages of green transformation, especially with the increasing impact of the carbon footprint and the requirements for reducing emissions on the international trade and opportunities for product access to markets.
The seminar also addressed carbon footprint calculations and emissions reduction mechanisms, the role of the State's institutions and the industrial sector in supporting the shift towards more sustainable and competitive production patterns, in addition to discussing the practical challenges facing the industrial establishments in this track.
The significance of these files comes in light of the accelerating changes taking place in global markets, that have made compliance with environmental requirements one of the factors affecting the competitiveness of products and their stability in the foreign markets, consequently reinforcing the need to prepare the Egyptian industry to deal with these transformations in a practical and well-thought-out manner.
