The GOEIC participated in the activities of the 3rd Conference of Accreditation and Conformity Assessment Bodies, held in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, with an international participation from bodies concerned with accreditation, inspection and conformity assessment.
The GOEIC’s participation came as a part of efforts of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to develop the foreign trade system and raise the efficiency of inspection and control procedures, contributing to facilitating the trade exchange and enhancing markets confidence in traded products.
During the conference, the Egyptian experience in implementing advanced mechanisms for pre-inspection and granting certificates of conformity for goods exported to Egypt was brought out, through cooperation with internationally recognized technical bodies, which ensures verification of the conformity of products to Egyptian requirements before they are shipped to the local market.
The events included honoring the GOEIC in recognition of its role in enhancing the technical cooperation with accreditation and conformity assessment bodies, as well as praising the tangible results achieved by the Egyptian experience in reducing the time of procedures and decreasing the cost of inspection, while maintaining the requirements of control and consumer protection.
Engineer Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, affirmed that mutual recognition of inspection results and conformity certificates has become an important tool for facilitating international trade, explaining that developing this system achieves a dual benefit represented in the rapid release of conforming goods, and ensuring the no entry of products that do not meet technical requirements.
He added that the GOEIC works according to an integrated vision aimed at updating its technical and regulatory services, and expanding cooperation with specialized international institutions, in order to support the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and enhance the ability of Egyptian exports to access foreign markets.
On the margin of the conference, the GOEIC’s President held a number of meetings with representatives of the participating international bodies, that addressed ways to develop cooperation in the areas of inspection, testing and accreditation, and to benefit from the exchange of technical expertise in supporting the quality system and conformity assessment.
This participation reflects the growing international presence of the GOEIC in specialized forums, and its role in supporting a more efficient foreign trade system based on facilitating procedures, adhering to technical standards, and enhancing trust between trading partners.
