Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade: General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) continues work at full capacity all year long, including official holidays, in support of customs release system at ports.

In implementation of the directives of the political leadership and based on the instructions of Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh to continue work in customs release system and its affiliated authorities throughout the year, and in light of the joint cooperation between Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and Ministry of Finance regarding continuous operation of ports and customs ports of entry (POEs) at full capacity throughout the year, including official holidays, General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) continues its supervisory and technical duties in all its branches at Egyptian ports, ensuring smooth flow of foreign trade and swift release of shipments and goods.

Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, confirmed that the continuous work of ports and customs ports of entry (POEs) at full operational capacity throughout the year contributes to preventing accumulation of goods, reducing trading and storage costs for business community, and supporting the competitiveness of the national economy. He referred to continuous full implementation of all policies, procedures, and initiatives related to this regard and their development in a way that contributes to reducing customs release time, simplifying procedures provided to exporters and importers, and raising the efficiency of institutional services.

For his part, Engineer Essam El Naggar, President of the GOEIC, affirmed that GOEIC continues work through its various branches in ports and customs ports of entry (POEs) at full operational capacity, in coordination with the concerned authorities in the customs release system, to ensure streamlined finalization of technical and regulatory inspection work and accelerating the pace of releasing shipments.

El Naggar demonstrated that the teamwork of inspectors and technicians at the GOEIC work according to a continuous operating system that ensures the smooth flow of foreign trade, with full commitment to applying the technical controls and standards that ensure the protection of the Egyptian market from goods that do not conform to specifications.

President of the GOEIC pointed out that this approach is consistent with the directions of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade aimed at reducing customs release time, supporting the exporters and importers community, and providing the needs of the local market for various goods, especially during periods that witness an increase in import activity, such as Holy Month of Ramadan.

He also stressed that GOEIC is moving forward in developing the regulatory and technical work system, and enhancing the efficiency of services provided to customers, which contributes to supporting the State’s efforts to integrate the Egyptian economy into global value chains and enhance Egypt’s position as a regional center for trade and logistics, within the framework of objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The GOEIC affirms its continuous full commitment to working throughout the year, in coordination with all partner entities sharing in the customs release system, reflecting the spirit of institutional integration within the State agencies and serving the goals of economic development and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian trade.
