President of the GOEIC discusses with the Austrian commercial attaché registration of factories and entry of Austrian products into the Egyptian market.

Engineer Essam El Naggar, President of the GOEIC, received the Commercial Attaché of the Austrian Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of foreign trade, and to discuss the Egypt’s efforts to develop the system for registering foreign factories and companies exporting to the Egyptian market.

The meeting addressed mechanisms to facilitate the entry of imported products, ensuring the efficiency of the regulatory system, maintaining the quality of traded products, and conforming to best international practices.

During the meeting, Engineer Essam El Naggar discussed the developments in the system for registering factories and companies that own trademarks exported to Egypt, that the GOEIC applies in accordance with the provisions of Ministerial Resolution No. (43) of 2016 and its amendments, explaining that the system aims to achieve a balance between facilitating international trade, ensuring the quality of imported products, and protecting consumer rights.

President of the GOEIC affirmed the continuation of work on developing the registration system and simplifying its procedures through expanding digital transformation, enhancing transparency, and raising the efficiency and speed of service completion; enabling foreign companies to complete registration procedures and easily track the status of their applications, while providing the necessary technical and guidance support during the various stages of registration.

He pointed out that the registration of foreign factories and companies is based on clear and announced technical rules and regulations applied according to unified standards to all companies, ensuring equal opportunities and enhancing confidence in the import control system, noting the GOEIC’s keenness to inform applicant companies of all the necessary requirements and documents.

The meeting also addressed the Austrian side’s inquiries regarding registration procedures, particularly certificates related to quality management systems and the internationally recognized bodies for issuing and accrediting such certificates, where Engineer Essam El Naggar explained the regulations and procedures governing this matter.

He added that the GOEIC’s electronic services allow companies to inquire about the status of registration, monitor the validity of documents, and complete the necessary requirements and procedures, which helps them maintain the continuity of registration and avoid procedural obstacles that may affect the access of their products to the Egyptian market.

Engineer Essam El Naggar confirmed that the development of the registration system comes within the framework of the state’s direction towards building a modern and integrated system for foreign trade, based on digitization, raising the efficiency of procedures and improving the quality of services provided to the business community, which contributes to facilitating trade, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, and improving the investment climate.

On his part, the Commercial Attaché at the Austrian Embassy expressed his appreciation for the development witnessed in the GOEIC’s work system, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the General Organization for Export and Import Control in developing procedures and facilitating services provided to the business community, in such way that supports the development of economic and trade relations between Egypt and Austria.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President of the GOEIC affirmed GOEIC’s commitment to continue developing its services and provide technical and procedural support to the local and international business community, thereby enhancing the smooth flow of trade and supporting the State's objectives to attract foreign investments.
