The GOEIC has begun implementing its strategical project for establishing a digital platform for risk-based inspection and tracking to facilitate trade in Egypt, with funding from government of the Republic of South Korea through Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with a grant of $11 million.
within this context, Korean government appointed Korean IT Consulting Corporation (KITC), which is one of the leading companies in implementing digital transformation projects in the Republic of South Korea.
The project experts are currently preparing and developing the algorithms necessary to build the digital platform for risk-based inspection procedures (e-RBI) for non-food industrial goods presented to the GOEIC, that reach approximately 10,000 products according to the ten-digit Harmonized System Code (HSC), based on the controls and technical standards issued under Ministerial Resolution No. 284 of 2023.
The project also includes establishment and operation of an integrated digital information management and networking system, contributing to automating all procedures inside GOIEC's laboratories, which number more than 320 advanced and internationally accredited laboratories.
The project also includes establishing and operating an advanced digital system for tracking and traceability of industrial goods released through the GOEIC and traded in the local market, that enhances border control and raises the level of safety and quality of traded products.
This national project aims to simplify and accelerate the procedures for inspecting imported goods and improve the efficiency of the customs release system, thereby contributing to enhancing Egypt’s competitiveness in global trade and reaching the targeted global rates in reducing release time.
