During his panel discussion in the 7th Egypt Green Economy Forum (EGEF), Eng. Essam El-Naggar explained that the Egyptian government has taken serious steps to facilitate the Foreign Trade Movement, referring that since December 6, 2024, all relevant customs release entities have been operating during the whole week, for the purpose of accelerating customs release time and facilitating trade.
He added that the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade recently inaugurated the GEOIC's firefighting capacity and equipment testing center in Badr City as a significant step in the state's efforts to localize industry and boost exports. He added that the engineering industries has witnessed remarkable growth during the past six months from 3.6% to 12% between January and July 2025, reflecting a tangible development in this vital sector.
In a related context, Eng. Essam El-Naggar focused his speech on the need to focus on attracting the electric car industry to Egypt and the existence of global plans to replace all fuel-powered cars with electric cars by 2035, and the existence of great opportunities and advantages that Egypt has to become a regional source for the manufacture and export of electric cars. Regarding this industry, Egypt has actually begun manufacturing batteries, as a first step towards expanding this promising industry.
Confirming the importance of keeping pace with the global developments in this field, he noted that in October 2023, a pivotal step was taken to establish a department for managing risk, with the aim of boosting control and improving the performance quality in the commercial and industrial system.
At the end of his speech in the panel discussion, Eng. Essam El-Naggar asserted the necessity for Egyptian companies to be ready for implementing the requirements of the European Union's Carbon Footprint, emphasizing the importance of developing tracking and disclosure systems in line with international standards so that Egyptian products can efficiently and sustainably access European markets.
