(18%) Decrease in the value of The Egyptian non-petroleum imports during May 2019 compared to May 2018

M.G. Ismael Gaber - Chairman of GOEIC announced that GOEIC had issued its comparative monthly report for the Egyptian non-petroleum imports which showed a decrease in the Egyptian non- petroleum imports with a value of (1,147) billion dollars or (18%) compared to May 2018. Where the value of the Egyptian non- petroleum imports during May 2019 reached (5,086) billion dollars versus (6,233) billion dollars during May 2018. The report also illuminates a decrease in the value of the imports of (9) sectors, starting with the imports of “Medical Industries” with a value of (107 MDs) in May 2019 compared to (270 MDs) in May 2018. Then came the imports of “Furniture” with value (51 MDS) in May 2019 compared to (119 MDS) in May 2018.

The imports of “The Agriculture Crops” reached (580 MDs) in May 2019 compared to (706 MDS) in May2018, then “The Books and art types” recorded a decrease in its imports with value (1,275 MDs) in May 2019 versus (2,748 MDs) during the same period of the previous year. Then we find a decrease in the imports of “Food Industries” to become (441 MDs) compared to (571 MDs) during May 2018.

Followed by a decrease in the imports of “Engineering and Electronic Goods” , “Chemical Products and  Fertilizers” and “Building Materials”.
