President of the GOEIC conducts a field visit to follow up on the operations at Safaga Port to enhance performance efficiency and accelerate trade movement in light of the efforts of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to modernize the foreign trade system, and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, conducted a field visit to Safaga Port to follow up on the progress of work and measure the efficiency of the operation and inspection system inside the port.
The visit began with a coordination meeting with the relevant authorities inside the port, during which, they discussed the mechanisms for developing performance and improving the quality of services provided to clients, in order to raise work efficiency and achieve greater discipline in the trading system.
During an expanded meeting in the conference hall, President of the GOEIC reviewed the current performance indicators and addressed the most prominent operational challenges, most notably congestion (accumulation of goods), stressing the importance of accelerating implementation of practical solutions that would reduce release time and facilitate inspection procedures, in order to support the smooth flow of exports.
The tour also included a field visit to the inspection sites, where mechanisms for inspecting export trucks using gantry X-ray machines were demonstrated. This reflects the application of the latest technological systems that ensure both accurate monitoring and rapid processing. The tour also included visits to customs yards and joint inspection areas to assess the readiness of the infrastructure and its capacity to handle the growth in export traffic, in line with the state's strategy to increase export capacity and open up to new markets.
In a related context, President of the GOEIC, inspected a number of logistics sites at the port, including the logistics building (MTS) and the Safaga Mining Port (Abu Tartour), in addition to the sites proposed to facilitate procedures for Sudanese trucks, in away that enhances regional trade integration and raises the efficiency of supply chains through Egyptian ports.
