Engineer Essam El Naggar follows up on the development of the technological infrastructure at GEOIC's 6th of October Branch and explores the establishment of testing laboratories affiliated with the GOEIC at October Dry Port.

Within the framework of the policies of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade aimed at developing the foreign trade system, raising the efficiency of services provided to th eexporters and importers, and accelerating and simplifying procedures, and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, conducted a field visit to GOEIC's branch in the 6th of October City and October Dry Port.

President of the GOEIC commenced the visit by holding a meeting with the director of GOEIC's branch in the 6th of October City, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed, Chief of the Central Department for Information Technology and Digital Transformation, and the consultant and the contractor in charge of implementing the servers' rooms project at the branch, to follow up on the project’s implementation status, construction phases, technical equipment and infrastructure work.

Engineer Essam El Naggar also inspected the project site and confirmed the necessity to adhere to the approved technical specifications and the schedule determined for implementation, in order to ensure the readiness of the servers' rooms and support the efficiency of the GOEIC's digital systems.

President of the GOEIC confirmed that the project comes as a part of an integrated plan to develop the technological infrastructure and enhance digital transformation, which contributes to raising the efficiency of connectivity and data exchange, ensuring the sustainability of electronic services, accelerating the procedures and improving the quality of services provided to customers.

The tour included inspecting the various departments and offices of the GOEIC's branch in the 6th of October City, whereas the President of the GOEIC followed up on the work progress, met with the branch’s employees, and listened to their opinions and suggestions regarding development of the work environment and raising performance efficiency, stressing the importance of integration and coordination between the departments and speeding up the completion of services.

Following the conclusion of his tour, Engineer Essam El-Naggar visited October Dry Port, where he held a meeting with Engineer Sayed Metwally, Chairman and Managing Director of October Dry Port Company, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting discussed the possibility of establishing and operating inspection laboratories affiliated with the GOEIC inside the port, including laboratories for chemicals to serve export shipments, and a laboratory for electrical equipment, in addition to identifying the types of imports targeted for inspection, which contributes to facilitating procedures for exporters and importers, reducing inspection time, and speeding up the completion of shipment procedures within the port.

The President of the GOEIC also inspected the work sites of GOEIC's employees inside October Dry Port, and reviewed the work cycle and procedures used in dealing with outgoing and incoming shipment, stressing the importance of providing the necessary capabilities for the employees to ensure the speed and accuracy of completing the procedures.

Engineer Essam El Naggar held a meeting with a number of customs brokers to listen to the most prominent challenges they face, especially those related to the statistical model, obtaining certificates of origin, and procedures related to incoming shipments.

President of the GOEIC directed for studying the problems and proposals, and coordination among the relevant departments and concerned parties to work on finding practical solutions to them, in order to support facilitating trade, improving the level of services, and reducing the time and cost of completing procedures, while maintaining the efficiency of control and inspection system.
