Arab Republic of Egypt Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade General Organization for Export and Import Control

Within the framework of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s policies aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation with African countries, and exchanging institutional and technical expertise in areas related to foreign trade, the GOEIC received a delegation of 50 participants from Central Bank of Nigeria, to recognize the Egyptian experience in export and import control, the infrastructure supporting trade, and inspection, testing and accreditation systems.

Engineer Essam El Naggar, Chairman of GOEIC, inaugurated the visit and seminar organized by the GOEIC's Center of Excellence, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation and exchanging knowledge and experiences with counterpart institutions and entities in African countries, and introducing the Egyptian experience in developing national capabilities and infrastructure related to the foreign trade.

The visit program included a review of GOEIC's competencies and its role in controlling exports and imports, verifying that products conform to the approved standards, as well as introducing the technical and laboratory capabilities that the GOEIC owns in the fields of inspection and testing, and its role in ensuring the quality and safety of products and facilitating their access to markets.

The program also addressed the GOEIC's efforts in digital transformation and the development of services and procedures, and the role of digital systems in raising the efficiency of the work system and facilitating access to services for customers, as well as reviewing international and regional trade agreements and the advantages and preferences they provide that contribute to supporting exports and opening new opportunities for them in foreign markets.

The events included a number of topics related to the international marketing, studying target markets, technical standards and requirements, the conformity and accreditation system, as well as networking mechanisms and building commercial relationships and partnerships, and the role of digital platforms and information available through the GOEIC's website in facilitating access for exporters and traders to services and data related to foreign trade activities.

The delegation also recognized the roles of a number of Egyptian institutions and bodies related to the foreign trade and export development system, and the mechanisms of integration and coordination between them to support exporters and producers, provide information and technical services, and deal with the requirements of foreign markets.

The visit reflects the GOEIC's keenness to enhance Egyptian-Nigerian cooperation and exchange experiences with African countries in the areas of control, inspection, testing, standards, accreditation and digital transformation, that supports building institutional capacities and enhances opportunities for economic and trade integration between Egypt and Nigeria.
