In the light of continuous monitoring developments of regional conditions and their impact on the foreign trade of Arab Republic of Egypt, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, and Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation have intensified their urgent coordination efforts to monitor the repercussions of the closure of airspace in a number of countries, resulting in certain impacts on the movement of Egyptian exports, particularly perishable agricultural products.
State agencies are monitoring the situation twenty-four hours, in full coordination with the relevant authorities and representatives of export councils and companies operating in the export sector, to ensure a rapid response to the developments and to take appropriate measures according to the nature of each sector.
A number of parallel axes are currently in progress, including studying available logistical alternatives, comprising the shift to sea or land shipping according to the nature of each market, in addition to providing regulatory and commercial pathways that facilitate the redirection of affected quantities and the expansion in different trading channels, as well as enhancing coordination with supply chains and trading outlets in a way that contributes to absorbing the additional supply within the local market without affecting the balance of markets.
In this context, the ministries called on the exporting companies to communicate directly with the relevant authorities in each ministry to present any obstacles they may face, in preparation for dealing with them immediately and providing the necessary technical and procedural support, through the relevant contact points, each within its area of competence, most notably General Organization for Export and Import Control, Holding Company for Food Industries, and the Central Department for Agricultural Quarantine.
The ministries confirm continuation of full coordination and taking entire necessary measures to ensure the sustainability of the flow of goods, protect the interests of producers and exporters, and maintain market stability, in line with the state’s directions towards supporting exports, enhancing food security, and stabilizing the internal and external trade system.
