The General Organization for Export and Import Control signs a cooperation protocol with the Institute of National Planning.

In line with the Egypt's directives to enhance institutional cooperation, and consistent with the policy of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, for building human capacities, maximizing the benefit of scientific research in developing institutional performance, and linking applied knowledge to the needs of executive entities, the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) signed a Joint Cooperation Protocol with the Institute of National Planning (INP), in the presence of Major General Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, and Professor Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning.

signing this protocol comes within the framework of the GOEIC's keenness to expand the scope of partnerships with scientific institutions and national think tanks, in order to support its efforts in developing the work system, raising the efficiency of human resources, and enhancing the quality of institutional performance, in line with the policy of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the directions of Egypt towards modernizing the administrative apparatus, supporting sustainable economic development, and enhancing the efficiency of the entities concerned with the foreign trade system.

The protocol aims to develop aspects of joint cooperation between the two sides in the scientific, training, consulting and research fields, through the implementation of specialized training programs, organization of seminars, workshops and conferences, and the preparation of applied studies and research projects of joint interest, in addition to exchanging experiences and getting the benefit from the scientific and technical competencies available to both parties, in order to achieve effective integration between the scientific and applied aspects, and to support decision-making on clear scientific and professional grounds.

In this context, Major General Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, affirmed that signing this protocol represents an important step in the institutional development of the GOEIC, and reflects its orientation towards building effective partnerships with leading national institutions, contributing to develop the skills of employees, expanding training and postgraduate study opportunities, and enhancing the benefit from specialized scientific expertise, in a way that positively reflects on the efficiency of performance and the quality of work within the GOEIC.

His Excellency indicated that this cooperation supports the GOEIC's efforts in developing the work system, and contributes to raising the capabilities of its human resources, enabling it to keep pace with economic and trade changes, and enhances the GOEIC's role in monitoring exports and imports, facilitating trade movement, supporting the competitiveness of the national economy, and promoting Egyptian exports.

On his part, Professor Ashraf Al-Arabi, President of the Institute of National Planning, affirmed that signing this protocol originates from the national role played by the Institute as a national think tank, working to support evidence-based public policies and enhance the role of scientific research in analyzing economic and development issues. He pointed out that cooperation with the GOEIC represents an important model of integration among research institutions and executive entities, in such way that contributes to supporting decision-makers, enhancing the efficiency of institutional performance, and serving the objectives of comprehensive and sustainable development.

The protocol also stipulates the exchange of visits and expertise among specialists, the exchange of publications and scientific references, and support for joint scientific publication, as well as providing training and postgraduate study opportunities for the GEOIC's employees, in order to make the best use of the capabilities available to both sides, and to support the preparation of qualified human resources capable of dealing with the rapidly evolving challenges in the economic and commercial fields at the regional and international levels.

This protocol reflects the GEOIC's predisposition towards strengthening the institutional partnerships with national scientific entities as one of the effective paths to develop performance, raise the efficiency of human resources, and apply the scientific knowledge in serving the executive sectors, in light of the directives of Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, who emphasized in his recent arrangements and statements the priority of raising performance efficiency, supporting the institutional transformation, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, and facilitating trade and investment.

This cooperation represents a new step that enhances the GOEIC's ability to benefit from specialized research and scientific expertise, that supports the development of the institutional work environment, raises the level of human competencies, and serves the directions of the Egyptian state towards investing in the human element, linking the outputs of scientific research to the needs of executive entities, and developing the foreign trade system based upon modern and sustainable foundations.
