Under directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the national endeavors attempted by Egyptian government, led by His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, for achieving balanced and sustainable development by empowering the business community and institutions to keep pace with global changes and access foreign markets with competitive local products, that enhances the achievement of sustainable economic growth, and to achieve this goal, the Egyptian state is keen to localize concepts of modern economies that would enhance the flexibility of economic entities and open new horizons for global markets.
This strategic approach aims to enable Egyptian economy to effectively confront global challenges, create a favorable and attractive investment environment, and optimize the utilization of available resources, national expertise, and human capital in line with variable international requirements and obligations. Hence the importance of holding the fourth edition of Egypt Business Solutions Summit under the slogan "From Local to Global."
Mr. Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, delivered a speech in which he reviewed the GOEIC's tasks and its important role in the national economy, development of Egyptian exports and increasing their competitiveness.
In his proclamations at Egypt Business Solutions Summit, he explained that the future of Egyptian exports depends on adopting a clear vision based on knowledge, digital transformation, and enhancing competitiveness in global markets. He expressed his appreciation to the organizers of the summit, referring that the session dedicated to industry experts, entitled "Future of Egyptian Exports: Enabling Exports and Enhancing International Competitiveness," represents a crucial element in supporting the state's efforts towards increasing the value of exports and improving the quality of Egyptian products.
Mr. Essam El-Naggar explained that the GOEIC commenced in 2022 to develop a comprehensive vision aimed at providing advanced electronic services to the Export Sector in line with the best international standards.
He indicated that knowledge has become decisive element in performance improvement. Therefore, nearly 60% of the organization's employees have been trained to develop their skills and achieve digital transformation that the country aspires to.
Eng. Essam El-Naggar addressed the importance of the Foreign Trade Data Warehouse owned by the GOEIC, confirming that it is the official source of data on non-petroleum exports and imports in Egypt. He explained that data collection is done through an integrated system that includes the Customs Authority and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, which enables the state to issue accurate data that reflects the movement of trade on a monthly basis and helps in setting economic policies on scientific foundations.
He added that an analysis of data during the past ten years shows a remarkable development in the volume of imports and exports; as imports in 2015 recorded about $67 billion before decreasing to $51 billion and then rising again to $79 billion in 2024. He explained that a large part of Egyptian imports goes towards strategic goods, such as wheat, oils and meat, in addition to industrial raw materials necessary for local production.
Regarding exports, El-Naggar revealed that their value increased from $18.6 billion in 2015 exceeding $40.5 billion in 2024, reflecting a clear development in the competitiveness of Egyptian products, particularly in Arab and European markets. He pointed out that exported goods conform to international standards, which enhances their market penetration and increases their ability to reach new consumers.
He also pointed to the five most important countries that receive Egyptian exports, namely China, the United States of America, Germany, Russia and Turkey, calling for the necessity to focus on deepening trade relations with these countries, that represent strategic markets for Egyptian exports.
His Excellency also reviewed the performance of the export councils, explaining that the most growing sectors in recent years included the chemical industries, food industries, and engineering industries, while the printing and packaging council comes as a key element supporting all sectors as various industries depend on packaging in export operations.
At the conclusion of his statements, he affirmed that the GOEIC continues to support the Business Community by developing procedures and providing effective digital services, ensuring improved quality of exports, enhancing Egypt’s rank in global trade indicators, and increasing the competitiveness of national products in international markets.
In another context, a Cooperation Protocol was signed between the GOEIC, headed by Eng. Essam El-Naggar, and CSR Egypt, headed by Dr. Hassan Mustafa, with the aim of promoting the concepts of sustainability and social responsibility in Business Sector, and supporting export and industry institutions in integrating these concepts into their practices.
The cooperation includes preparing and implementing training programs aimed at raising awareness of sustainability principles among exporters and importers, reflecting on developing environment of work and improving the competitiveness of Egyptian companies.
Signing the protocol took place on the sidelines of the fourth session of Egypt Business Solutions Summit entitled (From Local to Global).
