President of the GOEIC inspects Suez Port to follow up on Unique Consignment Reference System (UCR), and enhance efficiency of logistic services.

Within the scope of continuous field following-up to develop the work system and enhance the efficiency of services provided to the stakeholders, Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, conducted an inspection visit to Suez Port, accompanied by Dr. Hossam Gad El-Mawla, Head of the Central Administration of Suez Customs, along with customs leaders and leaders of GOEIC's Suez branch, and representatives of the business community from the Customs Brokers Division and Syndicate.

The visit aimed to follow up on implementation of the Unique Consignment Reference System (UCR), where president of the GOEIC listened to a detailed explanation of the system’s operating mechanisms and the new procedures associated therewith, that contribute to strengthening governance of the customs release system and achieving more discipline and transparency.

The visit also included extensive discussion with traders and exporters and review of the most prominent challenges and obstacles that may face applying the new system, in addition to discussing the problems of exporters directly, and exploring ways to facilitate procedures and provide the necessary support to the exporting community.

During the meeting, President of the GOEIC confirmed the importance of full coordination among all parties involved in the release of goods and containers, in order to accelerate the procedures, reduce release time, and lower burdens on the business community, in light of the State’s directions towards improving the trade climate and facilitating the movement of exports and imports.

In the conclusion, the visit emphasized on continuing the field following on and receiving feedback from stakeholders directly, and working on the continuous development of the system in line with the State’s vision for digital transformation and raising the efficiency of the foreign trade system.
