The Prime Minister follows up on the executive status of customs release of goods and the implementation of the pre-registration system for shipments

Today Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, held a meeting to follow up on the executive status of customs release of goods and implementation of the pre-registration system for shipments, in the presence of Lieutenant General Engineer/ Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, Mr. Ahmed Kojok, Minister of Finance, Engineer Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Sherif El-Kilani, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Essam Omar, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Major General/ Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, Dr. Amani El-Wasal, Chief of Agreements and Foreign Trade Sector and Executive Director of the Export Development Fund, Ms. Sherine El-Sharkawy, First Assistant, Minister of Finance for Economic Affairs, and Mr. Ahmed Refaat El-Asqalani, Chief of Central Administration for Foreign Trade.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister confirmed his keenness to hold this meeting periodically to follow up on the latest developments regarding the customs release of goods from various ports and outlets of the Republic, and the efforts exerted to reduce the release time, as well as follow up on the implementation of the pre-registration system for shipments, referring that this comes within the framework of the state's interest in providing and making available various goods and commodities necessary for meet the citizens' needs, in addition to securing production inputs for many industries and production processes, in an effort to achieve more stability in the conditions of the Egyptian market.

The Prime Minister denoted that the efforts of reducing the customs release time include many measures that have been worked on in cooperation and coordination with various concerned bodies, in addition to the legislative amendments that are currently being worked on in preparation for their approval, noting that these various efforts have actually contributed to reducing customs release time compared to such time as before, saying: "But we have many goals that we are working to achieve."

The Counselor Mohamed El-Homosany, the official spokesperson of Egypt's Cabinet stated that the meeting reviewed the total value of goods released during the period from the beginning of January 2024 until January 8, 2025, where it was noted that it exceeded $79 billion, including production supplies and raw materials worth about $33 billion, and strategic goods worth about $20 billion.

The official spokesperson pointed out that the meeting discussed an analysis of the values ​​of the registered goods numbers in the advance shipment registration system during the period from 01/10/2021 to 08/01/2025, if there are petroleum materials, and again without petroleum materials within the values.

Counselor Mohamed El-Homosany added: "The meeting also discussed the value of the existent goods that released until January 8, according to the pre-registration system for shipments.

The meeting witnessed a review of the efforts made by various bodies, which contribute to reducing the release time of goods, and coordination being made in this regard.
