Enhancing the value-added and products quality, and opening new horizons for industries based on medicinal and aromatic plants
Within the framework of the directives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to support the Egyptian exports and enhance their competitiveness, the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) participated in the inauguration of the 5th Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Festival on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Agricultural Museum in Dokki, Giza Governorate.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation organizes the festival as part of the Agricultural Innovation Project entitled " Income Generation for Smallholder Farmers”, funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The initiative aims to maximize the value-added potential of medicinal and aromatic plants, develop related industries, and enhance access for Egyptian products to international markets.
GOEIC’s participation comes as part of its role in supporting the quality system and facilitating trade aligning with the festival’s objectives to improve the quality of Egyptian products, apply international standards, and enhance the export readiness of companies.
The festival focuses on developing the agro-processing and industries based on medicinal and aromatic plants including pharmaceuticals, food products, cosmetics, perfumes, essential oils, and plant extracts as well as transferring international technology and expertise, and fostering technical cooperation with the leading nations in this field.
It also aims to support smallholder farmers and producers’ organizations, strengthen their partnerships in the private sector, promote the contract farming, and improve access to markets and financial service in such way that develops value chains and increases investment and export opportunities for this sector.
