Rachid Benjelloun, The Director of the Trade Development and Export Development Project in Egypt, announced during the first annual forum of GOEIC under the title “Developing concepts to unleash export potential”. the project includes an investment of 230 million dollars to boost exports.
Benjelloun explained that the USAID project works closely with export councils to support exports, focusing on bridging gaps in this area and cooperating with a number of stakeholders to achieve this goal.
Benjelloun added that the project was established by the National Bank of Egypt, and is preparing to announce a new trading platform soon.
He also stressed the efforts made to build a favorable investment environment, by conducting studies with exporting companies to overcome challenges.
He also referred to cooperation with the General organization for Food Safety to implement food safety rules and enhance laboratory capabilities
Benjelloun stressed that there is an enhancement of cooperation between the public and private sectors to achieve the main objectives of the project, expressing USAID's belief in Egypt's ability to achieve a major leap in the field of exports.
Rachid Benjelloun, Director of the Trade Development and Export Development Project in Egypt, confirmed supporting the exports of Egyptian small and medium enterprises through three main result areas, it provides direct support to SME exporters in seven sectors, including garments, building materials, chemicals, engineering, food, textiles, packaging and printing. He explained that the assistance provided by the project to these small and medium-sized companies includes areas such as certifications, e-commerce, participation in trade fairs, financing, investment advisory services, training, and adaptation to climate change, He added that the project has contributed to stimulating about 130 million dollars in SME exports so far.
