(GOEIC) participates in a panel discussion to analyze the controls for imposing duties and expenses on export and import services held by the Trade Development and Export Development (USAID) project

Eng. Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, participates in the panel discussion to analyze the controls of the imposition of duties and expenses on export and import services convened by the Project for Trade Development and Export Development. His Excellency stated that the General Organization for Export and Import Control is the only authority for more than three years that did not raise any fees for it, whether for exports or imports, but rather reduced fees for Egyptian exports, GOEIC is working hard for Egyptian exports to reach African markets.

Eng. Essam Al-Naggar added that GOEIC is keen to provide the best services in the field of laboratory examination and certificates of conformity to Egyptian exporters to facilitate the entry of their products into global markets. GOEIC is also the only entity, over the course of three years, that did not raise examination fees on imports or exports, but rather reduced fees on Egyptian exports.

He explained that GOEIC is supporting the Egyptian industry by examining the production requirements and inputs received for the industry to ensure that they comply with Egyptian and international specifications and work to speed up their release. to African countries in support of the Egyptian state's plan to reach 100 billion exports.

His Excellency stated that GOEIC plays a pivotal and effective role in supporting the state's efforts to serve Egyptian trade and industry by strengthening the infrastructure system for the quality of products as it is a conformity assessment body and granting conformity certificates for industrial, non-food, food and chemical products in the movement of trade across borders, and it also helps companies to achieve Sustainability and approval of its products in foreign markets and facilitating procedures for all sectors.

This is within the framework of the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s keenness to improve the system of services provided to the exporters and importers community through commitment to implementing the latest systems and rules in place in a way that contributes to facilitating the movement of trade between Egypt and the countries of the world, and in implementation of the directives of Eng. Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, to achieve more communication between the Ministry’s agencies and the business community with the aim of upgrading the Egyptian industry and increasing export rates.

This panel discussion comes as a result of the study conducted by the Trade Development and Export Development Project in cooperation with ( Acumen Consulting Company), to discuss the results of the expanded study, to identify the most important problems that impede the system,  and knowing the extent of the commitment of government agencies related to foreign trade to what was stipulated in the Trade Facilitation Agreement emanating from the World Trade Organization “WTO-TFA” with regard to the value, mechanism and methodology of imposing duties and expenses on export, import and transit operations, which is considered one of the most important factors affecting the smooth flow of Egyptian foreign trade, which is directly reflected in making a quantum leap in Egyptian exports and reaching 100 billion dollars annually, in the presence of representatives of the competent authorities on the part of the government and the business community.
