(18%) Decrease in the value of The Egyptian non-petroleum Imports during December 2019 compared to December 2018

M.G. Ismael Gaber - Chairman of GOEIC announced that GOEIC had issued its comparative monthly report for the Egyptian non-petroleum imports which showed a decrease in the Egyptian non- petroleum imports with a value of (1,180) billion dollars or (18% decrease) compared to December 2018. Where the value of the Egyptian non- petroleum imports during December 2019 reached (5,292) billion dollars versus (6,473) billion dollars during December 2018.

The report also illuminates a decrease in the value of the imports of (12) sectors, starting with the imports of “Shoes, Leather and Leather Products” with a value of (12 MDs) in December 2019 compared to (17 MDs) in December 2018, which is (28% decrease). Then came the imports of “The Agriculture Crops” with value (533 MDs) in December 2019 compared to (701 MDs) in December 2018, which is (24% decrease).

The imports of “Medical Industries” reached (256 MDs) in December 2019 compared to (327 MDs) in December 2018, which is (22% decrease), then “Furniture” recorded a decrease in its imports with value (119 MDs) in December 2019 versus (150 MDs) during the same period of the previous year, which is (21% decrease). Then we find a decrease in the imports of “Chemical Products and Fertilizers” to become (782 MDs) in December 2019 compared to (992 MDs) during December 2018, which is (21% decrease).

Followed by a decrease in the imports of each of “Handcrafts”, “Ready-made Cloths”, “Yarn and Textiles”, "Engineering and Electronic Products", "Food Industries" and finally "Printing, Packing, Paper and Books".
