Arab Republic of Egypt Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade General Organization for Export and Import Control

As part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s policy aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the business environment, supporting Egyptian exports, and developing services provided to the business community, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between The GOEIC and the EEAA. 

This protocol aims to enhance cooperation and data exchange related to the unified environmental data register for the industrial sector, thereby contributing to the establishment of an integrated and reliable database that supports monitoring and evaluation activities, improves decision-making efficiency, and enhances the ability of stakeholders to deal with emerging environmental and commercial requirements.

The protocol was signed as part of launching the Integrated Digital System for Environmental Impact Assessment “IDEIA”, a step aimed at achieving integration between environmental data and data related to industrial and commercial activities, and enhancing coordination and information exchange between the concerned parties.

Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh affirmed that the Egyptian state is working to build a more competitive investment and export environment, based on facilitating procedures, digital transformation, and raising the efficiency of services, in parallel with enhancing the ability of the Egyptian economy to keep pace with global transformations in the fields of sustainability and the green economy.

The minister explained that enhancing the attractiveness of the business environment is linked to providing a system that is efficient, transparent and sustainable, and helps companies keep pace with changing international requirements, noting that the integration of environmental, industrial and commercial data is a key element in improving the quality of decision-making and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.

He added that the ministry continues to develop services provided to the business community and enhance the readiness of Egyptian establishments to proactively address international environmental requirements and standards. This supports their ability to maintain their existing markets, access new markets, and strengthen the global competitiveness of Egyptian products.

On his part, Engineer Essam El Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, affirmed that the GOEIC continues to develop its technical and regulatory services system to keep pace with the rapid changes in international trade, noting the increasing impact of environmental requirements on the ability of products to access global markets.

He pointed out that cooperation with the Environmental Affairs Agency and the exchange of data related to the industrial sector represent a pivotal step towards building an integrated national system for environmental data, which enhances the accuracy and reliability of information, raises the efficiency of monitoring and verification, and supports decision-makers and the business community in dealing with emerging environmental and commercial requirements.

The protocol reflects the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s tendency towards enhancing digital and institutional integration, and raising the readiness of Egyptian industry to keep pace with international environmental standards, in order to support the competitiveness of the national economy and Egyptian exports in global markets.
