Within the framework of the government’s tendency for the digital transformation, developing the foreign trade system, and enhancing competitiveness of Egyptian exports, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, attended the launch of “Foreign Trade Information Portal”, organized by Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, at the Center’s premises in New Administrative Capital.
The event was attended by Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Osama El Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Information and Decision Support Center, in addition to a number of leaders of trade and investment authorities, including Major General Engineer Essam El Naggar, President of the GOEIC and representatives of the business community, export councils and international organizations.
Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, confirmed that the launch of the portal comes within the Ministry’s strategy to build an integrated digital system that supports investors and exporters and enhances reliance on data in decision-making, in such way that contributes to enabling Egyptian companies to recognize promising export opportunities and understand the requirements of global markets more efficiently.
The minister demonstrated that the portal provides more than 60 million registers of data from reliable national and international sources, covering about 6,650 customs items according to the International Classification System (HS Code), enabling exporters and investors the access to detailed information about international trade movement, demand directions, and target markets.
He added that the platform represents an advanced tool to support the business community by providing the necessary data and analyses to study foreign markets, identify export opportunities, and enhance the ability to access international markets, thus supporting the state’s objectives to increase exports and achieve sustainable economic growth.
On his part, Dr. Osama Al-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Information and Decision Support Center, explained that the portal is the first national reference for commercial and industrial data and analysis, as it integrates local and international databases into a unified platform that allows users immediate access to information and analyses of global markets through a single digital window.
He indicated that the platform provides updated monthly data regarding movement of Egyptian exports and imports, global demand trends, import gaps, and non-tariff restrictions, that helps exporters and investors to make more efficient decisions and supports the state’s efforts to deepen local manufacturing and increase the access of Egyptian products to foreign markets.
This step comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to develop the business environment and raise the efficiency of digital services provided to investors and exporters, which contributes to strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional center for trade and investment and supporting the goals of sustainable economic development.
