Within the framework of the state's directives to promote local manufacturing and support industries based on modern technology, and to activate the efforts of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade aimed at improving the investment climate and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, the GOEIC organized a conference entitled "Institutional Integration to Support Localization of Lighting and Smart Electrical Appliances Manufacturing," with the participation of representatives from relevant government agencies, the industrial sector, and companies operating in the fields of technology and smart manufacturing.

In his opening remarks, Engineer Essam El-Naggar, President of the GOEIC, stressed that the current stage requires strengthening coordination and integration among the various relevant bodies to create a supportive environment for the growth of smart industries, that will contribute to increasing the added-value of the Egyptian product and raising its competitiveness in regional and international markets.

He noted that the GOEIC continues to develop its regulatory, inspection, and release system in accordance with the latest practices and digital systems, which supports the smooth flow of trade and achieves a balance between facilitating procedures and ensuring the quality and safety of products traded in the Egyptian market.

The conference featured a review of several topics related to the development of the lighting and smart electrical appliances sector. Whereas the latest global trends in artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) applications within this sector, along with discussions on opportunities for industrial and export expansion and enhancing reliance on local components and technologies.

The sessions also addressed the efforts of relevant authorities in developing regulatory and customs procedures related to smart devices, mechanisms to support digital integration and facilitate release processes, as well as reviewing the regulatory frameworks for inspection and control at ports of entry in line with the rapid developments in this field.

Representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology participated in discussions on the technical and regulatory aspects of connecting smart devices to digital networks, and the infrastructure requirements necessary to support the spread of modern industrial applications, thereby enhancing the readiness of the Egyptian market to absorb future technologies.

The conference concluded with an extensive dialogue session that included representatives of government agencies and participating companies. During the session, the most prominent challenges and opportunities related to operations of manufacturing, import, and trading were reviewed, in addition to presenting a set of practical proposals to support the development of the business environment and enhance institutional cooperation during the next phase.

The participants emphasized the importance of continued joint coordination among relevant entities to support the localization of advanced technology industries, in line with the state's vision to build a more innovative economy and increase the contribution of national industry to global markets.
