The EGAC team, headed by Prof. Mahmoud Al Tayeb, paid an Assessment visit to the Technical Proficiency Testing Unit (PT Unit) that is approved by the EGAC in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043-2023 by European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA).
- Technical Proficiency Testing Unit at the General Organization for Export and Import Control received the assessment team for the accreditation visit on 24th and 25th of November to obtain the accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17043:2023 from the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) that is approved by the European Cooperation for Accreditation EA.
- It is in the course of issuing reports of technical proficiency tests accredited by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC).
- Technical Proficiency Testing Unit was established at the General Organization for Export and Import Control by virtue of Resolution No. 1521 of 2022 issued by the Board of Directors as an independent unit that provides technical proficiency testing service for laboratories to assess the performance of laboratories that affiliate to government agencies or the private sector in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17043:2023 and contribute to developing and Implementing laboratories quality assurance system.
- The Organization's Technical Proficiency Testing Unit provides technical proficiency testing services for laboratories in the field of food chemistry, chemical tests for metal materials and alloys, consumer safety tests, environmental tests, and electrical tests.
- Technical proficiency tests are one of the most important requirements for laboratories accredited in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025 to verify the laboratories performance and ensure the quality of laboratory results: - The unit is currently accredited through technical proficiency tests in nine programs.
- Determination of fatty acids in oils and fats
- Determination of preservatives and artificial sweeteners in food and beverages
- Determination of mycotoxins in food.
- Determination of chemical content in food.
- Determination of artificial colors in food and beverages.
- Determination of mycotoxins in milk.
- Determination of heavy metals in food.
- Chemical testing programs
- Determination of metals in alloys.
- Determination of phthalate in leather and textile
Laboratories, that participated in these programs, are located at the Organization's branches and laboratories inside the Arab Republic of Egypt affiliated to government agencies from other ministries, private sector, and from outside Egypt from Arab countries (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Tunisia - Dubai - Jordan) and from outside the Arab world (China)
