The protocol was signed by Engineer Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, and Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, in the light of joint cooperation to implement the rules of importing and exporting from and to the Economic Zone, and regulations on technical, environmental, and health control, taking into consideration reducing the time and cost of products inspection when imported after manufacturing or exported abroad directly from the Economic Zone, in addition to linking all these operations to the SCZONE trading platform that works within the region’s tendency towards digitizing all services.
Engineer/ Essam El-Naggar expressed his pleasure to cooperate with the Suez Canal Economic Zone considered as one of the most important national projects that represents Egypt's economic vision. He also appreciated the current efforts for providing a favorable investment environment that keeps pace with the global changes. He also confirmed the keenness of the GOEIC to support this environment and provide a number of various equipped laboratories to meet the circulation density at the GOEIC Ports.
Walid Gamal El-Din explained that Economy of the Suez Canal proceeds to facilitate all production stages for its investors and digitize all services for providing an attractive competitive work environment, and to maximize the benefit from the distinguished geographical location, the infrastructure, and capabilities of ports and industrial and logistical areas; stressing that this endeavor will not be completed except with the concerted efforts of all the state and in cooperation with all concerned bodies to ensure Egypt's economic goals in general, and attract investments to the Suez Canal Economic Zone in targeted sectors in particular.
Chairman of the SCZONE added that this protocol comes within the framework of supporting the Logistics Center and the SCZONE trading platform because the networking procedures, between the GOEIC and the platform, ensure that the examination results will be displayed very quickly, and they will enable investors to immediately inquire about their products, which will speed up the pace of production and exporting operations and achieve a balance between facilitation of procedures and verification of conformity to standards. He also stressed that this cooperation is necessary in light of the expansions taking place at ports of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and the inauguration of a number of new berths in the coming period, which will increase the trade volume and the requirement of accelerating the pace of the necessary inspection procedures.
It is worth noting that the Economic Zone is making unremitting and strenuous efforts in the field of digitization, as it launched eTabadul platform in cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) for the purpose of the industrial networking between producers and deepening the domestic industry. It also launched the second phase of digitizing investors services in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with the aim of facilitating the administrative procedures and accelerating the pace of investors services management through more than 60 services, in addition to signing a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Customs Authority for providing an integrated mechanization system for the Logistics Center for the economy of the Suez Canal and its projects.
