It came in the context of the speech of Eng./ Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of the General organization for Export and Import Control, which he delivered at the first forum for developing export concepts: The General organization for Export and Import Control celebrates its golden jubilee today, This is more than 50 years since the establishment of the General organization for Export and Import Control, which contributed significantly to developing, organizing and facilitating Egypt’s foreign trade movement.
He added during his speech at the first annual forum of the General organization for Export and Import Control, sponsored by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, Over the course of half a century, GOEIC has become a cornerstone in ensuring the quality of products traded in the Egyptian market, protecting consumers, and supporting the national economy by enhancing standards of control and efficiency.
He added that one of the GOEIC's most notable achievements in this journey is the development of the inspection and conformity assessment system for goods of various types, Advanced laboratories have been established, equipped with the latest modern international equipment and technologies, and specialized human capabilities have been built to ensure the sustainability of the accuracy and effectiveness of the tests, Pointing out that GOEIC has obtained a number of international quality certificates that enhance the credibility of its performance in this field at the global level.
He pointed out that GOEIC plays a pivotal and distinguished role in providing technical support to local producers and manufacturers and contributing to increasing the ability and competitiveness of Egyptian products for export by supporting the compliance and conformity of their products, In accordance with global technical requirements and standards for all countries of the world which leads to the sustainability and readiness of companies and factories for export.
He explained that GOEIC took the initiative to establish carbon certification units and specialized laboratories in analyzing the carbon footprint and measuring the decomposability of exported and imported products in light of GOEIC’s endeavor to keep pace with the global trend and the new procedures related to preserving the climate and implementing the green economy system, in a way that contributes to enhancing the sustainable economic development of the country.
Eng./ Essam Al-Naggar pointed out that GOEIC is developing these advanced capabilities and capacities to contribute to increasing and facilitating the flow of Egyptian exports to global markets, This will be reflected in an increase in the growth rates of the Egyptian economy, as well as Egypt assuming the position it deserves in the global trading system, within the framework of achieving the vision and continuous directives of the President of the Republic to support Egyptian exports to reach 145 billion dollars, as well as the goals of the Egyptian government program and the sustainable development strategy.
During the conference, a cooperation protocol was signed between the General organization for Export and Import Control, represented by Eng. / Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of GOEIC, and the Environmental Affairs Agency, represented by Dr. Ali Abu Sunna, CEO of the Agency, regarding joint cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of carbon footprint assessment and measurement and Emissions of greenhouse gases and implementation of verification and certification activities for greenhouse gas emission certificates, as The signing of the protocol was witnessed by Eng./ Hassan Al-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.
