General Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of the General organization for Export and Import Control, said that the volume of exports during the last year is a major achievement and an unprecedented boom in light of global challenges. He added, during his interview with Al-Watan, that the GOEIC is working to provide everything those owners of companies and factories need in order to qualify their products for access to foreign markets.

Because it came in light of difficult challenges, whether at the regional or global level, in addition to successive economic crises over the past year, and the increase continued in an upward manner during the month of January of the current year compared to the month of January 2023, The increase in exports is offset by a decrease in imports as a natural result due to the localization of some Egyptian industries, as some products began to be manufactured locally and exported due to the increase in the quality and reputation of the Egyptian product.
What is the reason for the increase in Egyptian exports during 2023?
The combined efforts of all state institutions with the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Chambers of Commerce, and Associations of Exporters and Importers, in addition to the fact that the GOEIC has spared no effort to support all sectors regarding exports abroad.

What is the importance of the GOEIC’s laboratories for controlling exports and imports?
The GOEIC’s laboratories can examine and analyze various samples sent to it from factories and companies, according to recognized Egyptian or international specifications, In accordance with the specifications and conditions of the country from which the product will be imported, in addition to issuing a certificate of conformity and a certificate of origin for the product, which will contribute to raising the proportion of Egyptian exports, Taking advantage of the various agreements that were signed between Egypt and several countries, the most prominent of which are: the COMESA, Agadir, and Merceswar agreements, in addition to the intra-African free trade agreement, and others.
Tell us about the benefit that accrues to Egyptian products after being examined by the GOEIC?
The GOEIC’s inspection of various products from Egyptian factories increases the value of the Egyptian product, and also helps increase competitiveness when exporting those products outside the country. Specifically in the electrical goods sector such as motors, water pumps, and boilers, or industries of propylene, polypropylene, plastics, biodegradable plastics, plastics, and chemicals, in addition to ceramics and building materials.
What goal do you hope to achieve regarding exports?
We achieve an increase in our exports every month, and during the current period Egypt is reaping the fruits of the agreements it concluded over the previous period, which are the reason for the increase in exports, we are optimistic about the continuation of the export boom in various sectors during the coming period. Achieving significant rates by the end of the current year, greater than the previous year, and we are currently working on opening new export markets in various countries, specifically the African market. We are developing plans and visions to double the increase in the volume of exports during the current year, which is what actually happened during the month of January of this year, and the volume of exports reached 3 billion and 12 million dollars, compared to 2 billion and 887 million dollars during the month of January of 2023.
