Within the framework of  the strategy of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to facilitate trade and strengthen systems for quality and technical compliance, the GOEIC organized two specialized seminars in Cairo, in collaboration with CVC as a state-affiliated Chinese testing institute, the two seminars addressed the compliance requirements of new energy products with the regulations governing entry into the Egyptian market.

The first seminar was assigned to traders and importers, while the second targeted the manufacturing companies with the participation of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and the Chamber of Engineering Industries, and attendance of over 60 representatives from companies operating in the new energy sector.

The two seminars addressed the latest requirements governing the entry of new energy products into the Egyptian market, pre-shipment inspection procedures, factory registration requirements, and mechanisms of verification of the products conformity with approved standards and technical specifications.

Engineer Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, emphasized that organizing these two seminars reflects the Organization's commitment to enhancing communication with the business community, raising the awareness of regulatory and technical requirements, and supporting companies’ compliance with the foreign trade regulations in such way that accelerate the release of shipments procedures that meet the necessary requirements and protecting the Egyptian market from non-compliant products.

He explained that the GOEIC is working to develop the inspection and control system in accordance with the latest international standards, while achieving a balance between facilitating trade and ensuring the quality and safety of traded products thereby supporting the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and aligning with the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

During the events, representatives of the GOEIC reviewed the applicable measures for issuing Pre-Shipment Certificates of Inspection (COI) for products subject to regulatory resolutions, and the role of accredited inspection and auditing bodies in verifying the conformity of shipments with technical requirements before their export to Egypt.

The discussions also addressed the regulations and procedures governing the inspection and review of new energy products and energy storage products particularly solar energy products as well as the mechanisms for submitting required documentation and certificates. These measures aim to enhance the efficiency of the regulatory system and support the circulation of products compliant with the specifications within the Egyptian market.

CVC’s technical team made a presentation on the company’s capabilities in testing, inspection, and conformity certification, while also highlighting the latest market access requirements and the most key challenges facing companies operating in the sector.

The two seminars coincide with the 70^th anniversary of the establishing diplomatic relations between Egypt and China and passing ten years since the commencement of cooperation between the GOEIC and CVC, reflecting the development of technical cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two sides.

This cooperation participates in enhancing the exchange of information and technical expertise and establishing sustainable communication channels between relevant stakeholders and the business communities in both countries. This supports the facilitation of trade, the strengthening of industrial integration, market access for compliant products, and the development of Egyptian-Chinese cooperation in the field of new energy.

CVC is an inspection and conformity certification body registered with the GOEIC and it provides technical testing, conformity inspection and certification, energy efficiency testing, and energy efficiency label registration services in accordance with the scope of its accreditation and relevant regulations and guidelines.
