In the framework of the directives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to develop foreign trade system and enhance the efficiency of services provided to exporters and importers, in order to increase the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and improve the investment environment, MG. Hany Rashad, Governor of Suez, received Engineer Essam El Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, to discuss ways of enhancing joint cooperation and develop the work system at Suez Ports.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Allam, Deputy of Suez Governor, and Major General Walid Farouk Herz, Chief of Central Administration of GOEIC's Suez Branch, whereas the two sides discussed mechanisms for developing the system of inspection and release of export and import shipments, and raising the efficiency of services provided to the clients, for facilitating the trade, supporting the investment climate, and enhancing the efficiency of work at the ports.
On his part, Engineer Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, expressed his appreciation for the support provided by Suez Governorate to the GOEIC, stressing the continuation of coordination and cooperation with the executive bodies in the Governorate to develop the work system, overcome any obstacles that may face the clients, and improve the efficiency of services provided to exporters and importers, in a way that contributes to expanding the base of exporters, increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, and supporting the State’s objectives in developing the foreign trade.
He added that the close cooperation between the GOEIC and the Suez Governorate represents a fundamental pillar for enhancing the efficiency of work at the ports, as they are a main gateway for the foreign trade, that positively impacts the speed of completing procedures, improving the business environment, and enhancing the confidence of the business community in the government services system.
On his part, Major General Hany Rashad, Governor of Suez, affirmed that the Governorate pays a great attention to develop ports services system, considered as one of the most important economic and logistical centers in Egypt, stressing the provision of all aspects of support and facilities necessary to the entities working in the ports, in order to ensure the speed of completing procedures, raising the efficiency of performance, and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian ports.
The Governor indicated the pivotal role played by the GOEIC in tightening control over the quality of goods and products, protecting the consumer, and supporting Egyptian exports through applying the approved standards and specifications, in such way that enhances the market confidence in Egyptian products and contributes to increasing trade exchange rates.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to continue coordination and cooperation during the coming phase, to support the State's efforts to develop the foreign trade system, improve the efficiency of port services, enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, and achieve the goals of sustainable economic development.
