Arab Republic of Egypt Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade General Organization for Export and Import Control

Within the framework of the State’s directives to enhance the integration among the entities concerned with the trade and food safety system, and to support the efforts of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade in developing services provided to the exporters and raising the efficiency of human resources, the  GOEIC signed a cooperation protocol with the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), to implement specialized training programs in food safety requirements, and getting the benefit from the technical and organizational capabilities of both sides in such way that contributes to developing the training system and building capacities.

The protocol was signed by Engineer Essam El Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, and Dr. Tarek El Houby, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, in the presence of a number of leaders from both sides.

The protocol aims to prepare and implement specialized training programs for workers and those involved in food trade, through GOEIC's Center of Excellence, while making use of the expertise and specialized technical competencies of NFSA in preparing and developing the scientific content, in line with the latest requirements and standards adopted in this field.

Cooperation between the two sides relies on combining the specialized technical expertise and available training, organizational and logistical capabilities, which contributes to providing high-quality programs, expanding opportunities for capacity building and qualifying personnel working in the sector, supporting the efficiency of the food safety system, and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in local and international markets.

Engineer Essam El Naggar, Chairman of GOEIC, confirmed that the protocol represents a significant step towards maximizing the benefit from the training capabilities owned by the GOIEC, primarily the Center of Excellence, referring that investing in building human capacities has become one of the most important axes of developing the foreign trade system.

He added that the collaboration with NFSA reflects the keenness of both sides to unify the efforts to provide specialized training programs according to the latest scientific standards, which contributes to raising the efficiency of workers and those dealing with the food sector, supports the commitment of establishments to technical requirements, and enhances the confidence of markets in the quality and safety of Egyptian products.

On his part, Dr. Tarek El Houby, Chairman of NFSA, confirmed that the protocol comes within the framework of the Authority’s strategy to spread the culture of food safety and expand the scope of qualification and training programs, in order to ensure the proper application of the approved requirements and standards.

He explained that cooperation with the GOEIC provides an integrated platform to benefit from the technical expertise and training capabilities of both sides, which contributes to preparing qualified personnel capable of applying the best practices in the field of food safety, supporting the control system and consumer protection, and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian food exports.

The protocol reflects the two sides’ orientation towards building a sustainable institutional partnership to develop a specialized training system, exchange expertise, and enhance the efficiency of human resources, in support of the state’s efforts to improve the food safety system, facilitate trade, and enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
