After his inspection tour of Dekheila Port, Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, held a meeting with a number of members of the House of Representatives in Alexandria Governorate, in the presence of Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, and Engineer Essam El Naggar, President of the GOEIC, after he visited GOEIC’s inspection yards and technical laboratories.
Dr. Mohamed Farid affirmed that what he veiwed inside the laboratories is a source of pride, reflecting Egypt’s possession of a developed technical infrastructure and qualified human resources working according to the highest international quality and accreditation standards, in such way that enhances the confidence of investors and foreign markets in the Egyptian inspection and control system.
The minister confirmed that the current stage requires promoting Egyptian technical capabilities at the same level as their development, using professional informational materials in Arabic, English and French, including the services and tests provided by laboratories, in preparation for generalizing them through Egyptian Commercial Offices abroad.
The Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade also required to prepare introductory videos that document the advanced laboratory capabilities and the efficiency of the human cadres in order to enhance the mental image of the Egypt’s capabilities in the field of inspection and testing, and to support efforts to attract investments and increase exports.
On his part, Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, confirmed that many of the tests that were previously conducted outside Egypt are now being carried out within the state’s laboratories according to international accreditation standards, with high efficiency, lower cost and faster time, referring that promoting these capabilities enhances Egypt’s position as a regional center for testing and examination services.
Members of House of Representatives praised the significant development they witnessed within the technical laboratories and the inspection system, stressing that what has been achieved reflects the size of the investments directed by the state to develop the technical infrastructure, and enhances confidence in the Egyptian product and supports its competitiveness in foreign markets.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s directions towards supporting the foreign trade system, raising the efficiency of inspection and control services, and maximizing the benefit from GOEIC’s technical capabilities in serving investors and exporters.
