The General Organization for Export and Import Control receives the delegation of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization.

Within the framework of the directives of the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and in implementation of the Ministry's policies aimed at facilitating the movement of foreign trade, enhancing the access of Egyptian exports to regional and international markets, and developing the inspection and control system to support the competitiveness of the Egyptian product, the GOEIC received the delegation of the Sudanese Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Inspection Laboratories during the period from 7 to 9 June 2026, for discussing ways to enhance technical cooperation and exchange experiences in the fields of inspection, testing and control of goods and products between the two brotherly countries.

The discussions dealt with ways to enhance the institutional cooperation between the two sides and exchange technical expertise in the fields of export and import control, specifications and quality, in a way that contributes to supporting the movement of intraregional trade and facilitating the smooth flow of goods and products between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Sudan, as well as enhancing mutual confidence in the results of examination and laboratory tests.

During the visit, the Sudanese delegation was briefed on the work system of the GOEIC and its competencies in the field of export and import control, mechanisms for examining exported and imported goods and products, and the system of issuing certificates, electronic linking and verifying the authenticity of documents, which contributes to accelerating procedures and facilitating the movement of trade between the two countries.

They also reviewed the GOEIC’s efforts in the fields of sustainability, green products and carbon footprint and its role in supporting the capability of Egyptian exports to access international markets, in addition to introducing mechanisms for preparing sustainability reports and keeping pace with environmental requirements associated with global trade.

The visit included field tours of a number of the GOEIC’s laboratories, where the delegation was briefed on the technical capabilities and modern equipment used in conducting laboratory tests and examinations in accordance with the approved international standards, in a way that enhances the efficiency of the control system and ensures the quality and safety of products.

The visit resulted in an agreement to enhance technical cooperation and exchange information and experiences between the two sides in the fields of inspection and testing, and to study mechanisms for exchanging data on goods and products of common interest, in a way that contributes to facilitating procedures and supporting the movement of trade between the two countries, in addition to discussing the preparation of a memorandum of understanding for joint cooperation in the relevant fields.

This visit was conducted in the light of the GEOIC’s efforts to enhance technical cooperation with the counterparts in Arab and African countries, support the state's objectives in developing the foreign trade system, raise the efficiency of quality infrastructure, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports in regional and international markets.
