Within the framework of the meeting of the joint Egyptian-Tunisian teamwork in the field of mutual recognition of conformity certificates for non-food industrial goods, held in Tunisia from November 17 to 20, 2025, the National Institute for Standardizations and Industrial Property organized a media day on introducing the technical procedures for implementing mechanism of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of mutual recognition of conformity certificates for non-food industrial goods. This media day falls within the framework of Egyptian-Tunisian economic cooperation agreed upon in Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Conformity Certificates signed between governments of the two countries, that aims to develop technical cooperation and facilitate trade movement of non-food industrial goods and products between the two countries.
Discussions during the media day focused on submitting the Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Recognition of Conformity Certificates for non-food industrial goods and the procedures for issuing conformity certificates, and also an introduction of the procedures followed by the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) and the customs procedures in both countries.
In his opening speech, Mr. Nafea Boutity, Director General of the National Institute for Standardizations and Industrial Property, confirmed that the implementation mechanism signed yesterday with the Egyptian side will benefit all economic operators in both countries, particularly since it aims to unify procedures, which will be reflected positively in the levels of reducing procedures and costs.
