This decision came within the framework of the Egyptian Government's endeavor for improving the work environment and attracting investments, whereas the Cabinet in its 19th Session held on November 14, 2024, issued a decision stating that all entities in charge of customs release system will work throughout the week including official holidays.

This decision aims at achieving several strategic objectives, mostly prominent:
- Speeding up customs release: It contributes to reducing the logistics costs and increasing productivity of Egyptian products in global markets.
- Providing goods at affordable prices: It ensures accessibility of goods and products for citizens as soon as possible and at reasonable prices.
- Improving the investment environment: It attracts foreign investments and encourages investors to invest in Egypt.
- Enhancing competitiveness of the Egyptian economy: it participates in boosting Egypt's status in Global Competitiveness Index.
- The first day of implementing the decision witnessed positive interaction from all concerned entities, as the GOEIC coordinated with all regulatory entities for ensuring streamline of workflow in all GOEIC branches and bank branches at ports throughout the week.
Eng. Essam El Naggar, Chairman of the GOEIC, was keen to exist in areas of inspection in Alexandria and Dekhila Ports for following up pace and progress of wok. The GOEIC leaders were also keen to exist in all customs ports for providing support and assistance. This decision represents a qualitative leap in facilitating flow of trade movement in Egypt and attracting more investments.
