In the first visit of the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade to the entities affiliated with the Ministry, Engineer Hassan Al-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, visited the headquarters of the General organization for Export and Import Control as He held an extensive meeting with members of the organization's Board of Directors and its leaders, confirming the important role played by the organization in the field of foreign trade and working to facilitate the movement of trade and remove obstacles from the Egyptian exporter.
The Minister stressed the Ministry’s keenness to improve the system of services provided to the exporting and importing community through commitment to implementing the latest systems and rules followed internationally in the examination and release procedures for exported and imported shipments, which contributes to facilitating the movement of foreign trade between Egypt and various global markets
Al-Khatib said: GOEIC plays a major role within the framework of the strategy of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, which aims to promote and develop foreign trade And achieving the goals of the state’s plan to reach the highest levels of Egyptian commodity exports, Pointing out that the Ministry is working through GOEIC to develop the procedural system in a way that contributes to accelerating the pace of inspection and release of shipments at the ports.
The Minister held a meeting with a group of representatives of the business community, where a number of important topics related to work during the next stage were discussed
The Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade had inaugurates the optical, electrical and photometric testing laboratory at the GOEIC’s branch in Cairo Airport, confirming that the establishment of the laboratory comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to develop all affiliated laboratories; Which contributes to opening new markets and increasing the presence of Egyptian products globally
During the visit, the Minister inspected the energy efficiency testing laboratory for electric motors at the GOEIC’s branch at Cairo Airport, which provides testing services for imported motors.
The Minister also inspected the pressure and water consumption rationalization laboratory, which was established in implementation of the state’s vision of preserving water resources and ensuring the quality of all imported goods
The Minister also visited the developed building of the GOEIC’s branch, noting the efforts of the Egyptian government aimed at governing all border crossings and developing customs departments.
In a related context, the Minister opened the Technical Proficiency Testing Unit for Laboratories (PT) at the General organization for Export and Import Control, which provides technical proficiency testing services for laboratories to evaluate the performance of laboratories affiliated with government agencies and the private sector in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17043:2023.
At the end of his tour, the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade inspected a group of laboratories in the Central Administration for Quality Testing Laboratories for Food and Chemical Commodities included the pesticides and toxins laboratory, the oils laboratory, the additives laboratory, the physical tests laboratory, the rapid examination laboratory, and the enzymes and hormones laboratory.
