Engineer Hassan El Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, headed a mass meeting for discussing the customs release file and inspection of imports consignments, in participation with representatives from all ministries and concerned authorities.

The Minister said that the state is keen to provide more facilities for exporters and importers in such way that allows entry and exit of products in the shortest time possible and at the lowest cost, and contributes to improving Egypt's position in international trade indicators and increasing rates of Egypt's Foreign Trade, indicating the state's keenness to provide more facilities for the private sector in order to be able to lead the countries’ economic development system.

El Khatib demonstrated that facilitating the movement of the foreign trade participates in reducing the inflation rates; and accordingly, arrival of goods and products at appropriate prices to citizens. He also noted that the state intends to double the volume of Egyptian exports to global markets through implementing more reforms to the financial policies and reducing the burdens on exports.

The meeting reviewed the potentials of providing more facilities to reduce time and cost of the product release, by studying the possibility of operating customs release offices and bank branches at ports along the 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, while working to find unconventional solutions to facilitate the payment system for importers at banks, including increasing use of electronic payment applications.
