The Minister of Trade and Industry announces: For the first time in the history of Egyptian foreign trade, Egyptian commodity exports achieved their highest rate during the first 5 months of this year, recording 16 billion and 551 million dollars, increasing by 9.8%.

The latest report issued by the General organization for Export and Import Control About the indicators of Egyptian commodity exports during the first 5 months of the current year.

Eng. / Ahmed Samir: Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the Emirates, Italy, and the United States of America are the most prominent receiving markets for Egyptian commodity exports.

Egyptian exports achieved their highest monthly rate, reaching 3.5 billion dollars during last May

Eng. / Ahmed Samir Minister of Trade and Industry, announced that Egyptian commodity exports continued to rise for the fifth month in a row, reaching about 16 billion and 551 million dollars during the first 5 months of 2024, compared to 15 billion and 74 million dollars during the same period in 2023. With a difference of 1.477 billion dollars and an increase of 9.8%, Egypt’s commodity exports during the month of May reached 3.5 billion dollars, which is the highest rate achieved by Egyptian exports in a month, pointing out that this is the first time that Egyptian exports during the first 5 months of the year have reached such big amounts of rates for export.

The minister said that the ministry aims during the next stage to increase Egyptian commodity exports to various regional and global markets and this is through the concerted efforts of the Ministry and its affiliated agencies with the business community and Egyptian exporters, which contributes to increasing the quality and competitiveness of Egyptian products in the local and foreign markets. Then, achieving the state’s goals aimed at bringing Egyptian commodity exports to about 100 billion dollars annually.

Samir explained that the largest receiving markets for Egyptian commodity exports during the first 5 months of this year included the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a value of 1 billion and 391 million dollars, Turkey with a value of 1 billion and 310 million dollars, the United Arab Emirates with a value of 1 billion and 133 million dollars, Italy with a value of 974 million dollars, and the United States of America With a value of 904 million dollars.

The minister pointed out that the most important export sectors that formed the structure of Egyptian commodity exports during the first 5 months of this year included building materials worth 3 billion and 869 million dollars, food industries worth 2 billion and 644 million dollars, and chemical products and fertilizers worth 2 billion and 491 million dollars ,Agricultural crops worth 2 billion and 269 million dollars, engineering and electronic goods worth 2 billion and 181 million dollars, ready-made clothing worth 1 billion and 77 million dollars, furnishings, yarn and textiles worth 717 million dollars, printing, packaging, paper, books and artistic works worth 393 million dollars, and medical industries worth 267 million dollars, furniture worth 112 million dollars, handicrafts worth 87 million dollars, and leather, shoes and leather products worth 49 million dollars.

Eng. / Samir added that the tangible increase in exports of various productive sectors is due to the opening of a large number of factories during the last period, especially in the engineering industries sector.

The minister pointed out that the most prominent export items that achieved an increase in the structure of Egyptian commodity exports during the period from January to May 2024 included fresh and dried citrus fruits worth 721 million dollars, wires worth 353 million dollars, and manufactured petroleum oils worth 186 million dollars.
