Advancing Trade Facilitation Through Risk Management!

As part of USAID TRADE’s commitment to helping streamline trade processes and facilitating trade, a three-day training workshop was held for senior staff of Egypt’s General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC). The workshop focused on implementing a Risk Management System for the electrical appliances sector, a pivotal step toward reducing time and cost to trade.

Participants delved into risk assessment principles and phases, exploring core methodologies such as risk identification, analysis, and evaluation. They gained insights into international best practices, examining case studies and practical applications of risk assessment methodologies. The workshop emphasized the importance of transitioning from 100% inspections to targeted, risk-based inspections, boosting efficiency without compromising safety.

Additionally, GOEIC teams were trained to identify and address legislative gaps, learning how to perform gap analyses and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for risk-based inspections across 22 product categories.

This initiative marks a significant stride in aligning with global standards, fostering trade facilitation, and enhancing Egypt’s export competitiveness. Together, we are paving the way for a more efficient and robust trade system!

The GOEIC participates in the proceedings of "Food Africa" Exhibition with several government authorities and entities. The exhibition will be held from 3rd of December to 5th of December, 2024 at Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo under the auspices of Ministers of Investment and Foreign Trade, Industry and Transport, Supply and Internal Trade.

General Organization for the Export and Import Control participates in the proceedings of "Food Africa" Exhibition with a number of government authorities and entities. International Trade Exhibition for Food and Beverages is considered an international trademark that was developed for establishing an effective network among international sellers and traders and their counterparts in Egypt, Middle East, North Africa and the African Region. This event attracts the wholesalers, distributers and retailers and others that are professional in this field with the participation of 1000 companies that represent 39 countries, in addition to inviting  500 purchasers.
