The visit of the expert delegation to GOEIC in Cairo and the GOEIC branch in Alexandria comes within the framework of implementing the second phase of the project, which is related to conducting an in-depth study and gap analysis of the conformity assessment system procedures based on integrated risk management in accordance with the latest international systems and standards, which include the application of the latest artificial intelligence systems in the digitization and linking of risk management. It is worth noting that the General Organization for Exports and Imports Control has submitted the aforementioned project proposal through an announcement directed by the Ministry of International Cooperation to all government agencies, within the framework of GOEIC endeavor to modernize and develop its system of control procedures for conformity assessment of imported and exported goods in the movement of foreign trade across borders.
It is based on the application of an integrated system for risk management that includes tightening control over the conformity of products traded in the internal market with the aim of implementing the requirements of the comprehensive strategic plan of the state and the directives of the President of the Republic in the governance of ports and accelerating, simplifying and reducing the cost in the procedures for assessing conformity in ports for goods with tight control over the circulation, import and export of inferior goods and in implementation of Egypt's international commitments signed in this field (WTO-TFA Trade Facilitation Agreement, item 4.7 regarding the application of integrated risk management systems in cross-border trade).
The project proposal submitted by GOEIC was individually accepted among 15 projects submitted by various government agencies in the Arab Republic of Egypt, due to the importance and development priority of the submitted topic, according to the evaluation of the Korean side.
A team of Korean experts has been appointed by the Korean government in this regard, consisting of 5 experts, to provide technical advice, conduct gap analysis, and carry out and transfer Korean expertise to GOEIC in the field of integrated risk management in the conformity assessment procedures for goods.
