Within the framework of trade facilitation, GOEIC hold a seminar entitled Digitization and Governance of Conformity Assessment Procedures using the latest artificial intelligence application systems in cooperation with TECHNO SERVICE CO.

The Control of Exports and Imports holds a Seminar entitled:

"Digitization and governance of conformity assessment procedures using the latest artificial intelligence application systems within the framework of trade facilitation"

Eng. Essam El-Naggar: We are keen to support the state's efforts to serve Egyptian trade and industry, including efforts to shift to green industries.

Within the framework of the Ministry of Trade and Industry's keenness to improve the system of services provided to the exporters and importers community through commitment to implementing the latest systems and rules in place, in a way that contributes to facilitating the trade movement between Egypt and the countries of the world.

The General Organization for Export and Import Control, in cooperation with Techno Service Company, held a Seminar entitled "Digitization and Governance of Conformity Assessment Procedures Using the Latest Artificial Intelligence Application Systems in the Framework of Trade Facilitation".

 

The Seminar aims to identify the best international practices applied in this field by reviewing case studies from major advanced international institutions in providing digital solutions and networking systems in order to keep pace with the requirements of the comprehensive strategic plan of the state and implement the directives of the President of the Republic in the governance of ports and accelerate the procedures for assessing conformity in ports for goods As well as tightening control over the circulation, import and export of shoddy goods, and to implement international requirements in this field using the latest artificial intelligence application systems.

 

Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, stated that GOEIC plays a pivotal and effective role in supporting the state's efforts to serve Egyptian trade and industry, including efforts to shift to green industries, confront climate changes, and settle the green/circular economy, by strengthening the system Infrastructure for the quality of products and the protection of the Egyptian consumer as it is a conformity assessment body and granting certificates of conformity for industrial, non-food and food products in the movement of trade across borders, as well as combating internal commercial fraud, as it is unique in having an integrated system, unparalleled, of advanced examination and testing laboratories spread geographically in Throughout the Republic and within the Egyptian ports, as well as international accreditation and recognition systems in all areas of conformity assessment procedures (ISO 17065, ISO 17020, ISO 17025 & PT Unit).

 

His Excellency explained that GOEIC is one of the leading government agencies in the country that possesses an integrated international accreditation and laboratories system in all areas of international conformity assessment systems, through its international accreditation as an entity that grants conformity certificates for industrial products in accordance with the ISO 17065 system, and its international accreditation in the competitiveness of laboratories and conducting tests and calibration The laboratory according to ISO 17025 for nearly 2000 test fields in 300 advanced laboratories in GOEIC branches spread throughout the Republic, as well as its international accreditation as an internationally accredited examination and inspection body according to the ISO 17020 system, as well as the quality management system according to the ISO 9001 system.

Eng. Essam Al-Naggar also emphasized GOEIC role in protecting against internal commercial and industrial fraud by matching the products offered in the local markets to the standard specifications through the commitments of its merged branches to it last year after activating the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 3290 of 2021 By joining the Chemistry Authority under the umbrella of the General Organization for Export and Import Control.

 

In the context of supporting the transition to a green industry system, GOEIC established specialized laboratories in Dekheila Port, which are the first of their kind in Egypt and the Middle East. They were inaugurated by His Excellency the Prime Minister in August 2022, within the framework of Egypt's international obligations with the requirements of the United Nations Framework Conventions on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as well as the environmental goals for sustainable development of the United Nations and what was included in the World Climate Conference COP27 in Egypt, to reduce the effects of climate change resulting from thermal emissions and the phenomenon of global warming, which has become a mandatory requirement for many countries that apply environmental standards in conformity assessment procedures for products industry in cross-border trade.

 

GOEIC also established a unit for issuing conformity certificates for products, which is an internationally accredited and registered unit in accordance with the ISO 17065 system. It works to increase the competitiveness of Egyptian industry products for export to global markets.

 

The General Organization for Exports and Imports Control has been registered among the international conformity assessment bodies accepted by the Saudi “Saber” program, with the approval of the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality.

 

It is worth noting that the GOEIC provides many services to the business community, including exporters and importers, in light of its possession of a large number of competencies and young cadres that can be used to upgrade the service system and speed up the implementation of procedures in line with the requirements of digital transformation adopted by the state, the most important of which are:

 

Quality testing services for exporters and sample analysis at the request of the concerned person, which aims to reduce the burdens on Egyptian exporting companies by exploiting GOEIC laboratories to issue quality certificates required for the entry of Egyptian products exported to global markets within the framework of achieving the state’s strategy to reach Egyptian exports to 100 billion dollars.

 

Registration in the Approved Exporter system within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Agreement, based on the recommendations of the National Committee for the Rules of Origin, with the aim of facilitating exporters to access foreign markets without the need for a certificate of origin and being satisfied with the code number provided by GOEIC to the exporter.

 

Issuing Free Sale Certificates, which prove that the product to be exported is sold or traded in the local market.
