Chairman of (GOEIC) welcomes representatives of the Private Sector Innovation (PSI) project within the framework of cooperation between (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

Eng. Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of (GOEIC), welcomes representatives of the Private Sector Innovation (PSI) project within the framework of cooperation between Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The objectives and activities of the project and future areas of cooperation were discussed with (GOEIC), which focuses on how the German project supports the transformation of the Egyptian private sector into a competitive green economy in line with the sustainable development strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) was represented by:

·         Mr. Nils Wetzel: Senior Technical Advisor at the GIZ Regional Office in Germany.

·         Ms. Eileen Trenkmann: External Advisor supporting with the appraisal mission.

·         Ms. Svenja Brachmann: Head of the Business Linkages component, Access to Financial Services for SMEs.

·         Mr. Ezzat Abdel Alim: Deputy Head of Project, Private Sector Innovation Project, GIZ Egypt.

·         Ms. Fatma Makeen: Business Linkages and supply chain development advisor, Private Sector Innovation Project, GIZ Egypt.

While an elite group of a leaders from (GOEIC) participated in the meeting, Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of (GOEIC), reviewed the pivotal role played by (GOEIC) in supporting the state’s efforts to serve Egyptian trade and industry and serve the national economy.

This is done by strengthening the infrastructure system for product quality by being a conformity assessment body and granting conformity certificates for industrial, non-food and food products in cross-border trade movement.

It is unique in having an integrated and advanced, unparalleled system of industrial, food and chemical laboratories spread geographically throughout the Republic and within Egyptian ports, which is keen to apply the highest international quality standards while it adheres to the rules followed internationally in examination and sampling procedures in accordance with international standard specifications. it also includes an elite group of cadres and an integrated work team with the best distinguished expertise and highly trained in the latest technologies used in examination and analysis. as well as international accreditation and recognition systems in all areas of conformity assessment procedures (ISO:17065, ISO:17020, ISO:17025 & PT Unit).

His Excellency also explained that (GOEIC) is one of the leading government agencies in the country that possesses an integrated system of international laboratories and accreditation in all areas of international conformity assessment systems, through its international accreditation as a body that grants conformity certificates for industrial products in accordance with the ISO:17065 system, and its international accreditation in the competitiveness of laboratories and conducting laboratory tests and calibration in accordance with ISO:17025 for approximately 2000 testing fields in 300 advanced laboratories in the all branches of (GOEIC) which are spread throughout the Republic, as well as its international accreditation as an internationally accredited examination and inspection body in accordance with the ISO:17020 system, in addition its quality management system in accordance with the ISO: 9001 system.

The future vision of (GOEIC) was also explained in establishing a laboratory to measure carbon emissions during the biodegradation process, which will be one of the first laboratories in the area. and the efforts made by (GOEIC) in the field of compatibility with global environmental standards and its direction to establish a unit for issuing carbon emissions reduction certificates.
